The Chickahominy Indian Tribe was one of the first tribe’s to make contact with the English in 1607. The tribe has a long tradition of community in Charles City County and the surrounding area. One of the staples of the tribal community is the Tribal Center. Built in 1971, the building has been the source of many memories for the tribe and friends of the tribe. But the structure is in need of repair. The planned renovations will expand and modernize the restrooms to provide better access to handicapped and elderly guests. It will also expand the kitchen facilities to provide more room to work and will include an upgrade of the aged appliances.
